Step-by-Step Instructions
Step #2: Set Up Actions in Zapier
At this point, you have already completed Step 1: Connecting Wizebank to Zapier. The following steps will show you how to set up your post-purchase automation by connecting Wizebank to any relevant applications. This step will depend on which Zapier plan you are currently on. You will need to use Zapier Starter to use their 'Filter' application or the Zapier Professional subscription plan to use their 'Path' application
If you are on the Zapier Starter plan, you will need to create a new zap for each product you want to sell through Wizebank. For example, if you have three online courses, you will need to create a new zap for each one: (1) Zap 1 for Course A, (2) Zap 2 for Course B, and (3) Zap 3 for Course C.
- Select Filter: Under '2. Action', we will search for or select the 'Filter' application. By using 'Filter', you are setting up actions that will only happen when a customer buys a specific product.
- Set Up Filter Under '2. Only continue if...' you will need to input the following options: Field as Cart Items ID, Condition as (Text) Contains, and Text as Wizebank Product ID.
To find your Wizebank Product ID, you will need to go to your Products dashboard in your Wizebank application. From here, you can copy the product URL.
You will receive a product URL that looks like below. The Product ID is the bolded part of the URL:
https://app.wizebank.co/student/checkout/a12345bc-1ab2-345a-ab6c-7abc890ab12c?productId=ab123cd-45e6-789f-123a-4bc56d789123 - Test Filter: Once you've inputted all the information, click 'Continue' to test your filter. You likely will see something like this:
This filter will state that your zap would not continue. This is not an error and can be safely ignored. We will be able to come back to this and test your Zap in Wizebank to make sure everything is working well.
Now that your filter is set up, click ‘Continue’ and begin adding actions that will happen in response to a customer purchasing the course that matches the Wizebank product ID used in your filter.
- Choose App: Now we are ready to connect Wizebank to any application we need to set up our post-purchase automation. Common actions you may want to set up include:
(1) Enrolling a student in a course hosted on a platform like Thinkific, Teachable, or Kajabi
(2) Adding a student to a list in an email marketing solution like ActiveCampaign or ConvertKit
(3) Sending an internal Slack notification to notify your team of a Wizebank order
In this example, we will be adding a new customer to a specific list in ActiveCampaign. That means we need to search for or select ActiveCampaign under '3. Action' in Zapier - Choose Event: Since we want to add a new customer to a specific list in ActiveCampaign, we want to search for the event 'Create or Update Contact'.
- Setup Action: Once you've connected ActiveCampaign (or any other application) to Zapier, you'll be able to go ahead and set up the action you want. In this case, we have set up the Action so they get added to our list called 'Zapier Test' and we can pass in their email address, first name, and last name using the information Wizebank sends to Zapier.
- Done! 🎉 Once your actions are set up, make sure to name your zap, and then click publish. Once the zap’s published, you’re all done!
If you are on the Zapier Professional plan, you can use a single zap to set up all the products that you want to sell through Wizebank. To do this, we will use the ‘Path’ feature.
- Select Path: Under '2. Action', we will search for or select the 'Path' application. By using 'Path', you are setting up actions that will only happen when a customer buys a specific product.
- Set Up Path: Here you will be given two paths by default: Path A and Path B. You will likely want to create a path for each product you sell through Wizebank. For example, if you have three online courses, you will need to create a new zap for each one: (1) Zap 1 for Course A, (2) Zap 2 for Course B, and (3) Zap 3 for Course C.
To begin setting up your paths, click 'Edit' next to Path A
From here, click ‘Name’ and name it after the product you are selling. In this case, we'll call it 'Course A'.
Next click 'Rules, setup & testing' and input the following options: Field as Cart Items ID, Condition as (Text) Contains, and Text as Wizebank Product ID.
To find your Wizebank Product ID, you will need to go to your Products dashboard in your Wizebank application. From here, you can copy the product URL.
You will receive a product URL that looks like below. The Product ID is the bolded part of the URL:
https://app.wizebank.co/student/checkout/a12345bc-1ab2-345a-ab6c-7abc890ab12c?productId=ab123cd-45e6-789f-123a-4bc56d789123 - Test Path: Once you've inputted all the information, click 'Continue' to test your path. You likely will see something like this:
Zapier will state that your zap would not continue. This is not an error and can be safely ignored. We will be able to come back to this and test your Zap in Wizebank to make sure everything is working well.
Now that your path is set up, click ‘Continue’ and begin adding actions that will happen in response to a customer purchasing the course that matches the Wizebank product ID used in your filter.
- Choose App: Now we are ready to connect Wizebank to any application we need to set up our post-purchase automation. Common actions you may want to set up include:

In this case, we have set up the Action so they get added to our list called 'Zapier Test' and we can pass in their email address, first name, and last name using the information Wizebank sends to Zapier.
- Add Paths As Needed: Once you press continue, you have created your first path! Please note that at this point you have only created a path for a single product but you can imagine a scenario where you want to have different actions for different products. For example, you might want to ensure a student who purchased Course A only gets access to Course A in Teachable. This is where additional paths come in. In this case, just hit 'Add New Path' and repeat the steps from above for Course B and so on.
- Done! 🎉 Once your actions are set up, make sure to name your zap, and then click publish. Once the zap is published, you’re all done!
